But a new lawsuit has revealed that professors cannot qualify if they have any misdemeanors on record or a pending arrest warrant. Okay, the lawsuit isn't exactly about the fictional in-game professors like Elm and Birch, but it's fun to imagine a racket of doctors using tree aliases to escape their blotchy records. In reality, a 34-year-old Iowa man called Kyle Owens was rejected by the Pokémon Company for the title, which allows you to host officially sanctioned TCG and video game events, due to a failed background check.
He also isn't named after a tree, which I imagine can't help.
