007 First Light, IO Interactive's new James Bond game, doesn't launch for another five days, but copies are reportedly being sent out early to a few lucky players.
Usually, this is where I'd warn you to mute keywords and be careful on social media because of spoilers, but as per a developer stream hosted two weeks ago, you need to download the day one patch before you can play the game offline.
"No, it's not necessarily always online, you have to download the first patch to get the actual game," the team explained. "Once you've downloaded that, you can pull out your [Ethernet] plug and play it offline if you want."
Obviously, the day one patch isn't live yet because the game hasn't launched, so players with early copies are very limited in what they can do. However, as noted by u/ZamnBoii, who first alleged on r/GamingLeaksAndRumours that copies were "out in the wild," players aren't completely prevented from playing the game as IO Interactive claimed. The campaign will start, but not every level is present on the disc.
