Jason Voorhees Is Finally Coming To Dead By Daylight

After years of fan requests and seemingly endless legal complications, Dead by Daylight is finally bringing one of horror's most iconic slashers into The Fog. Developer Behaviour Interactive announced today at the end of a 13-hour livestream that Jason Voorhees will officially join the game, which marks one of the most highly anticipated crossovers in the game's history.

Jason has long been considered one of the biggest missing names in Dead by Daylight’s ever-growing roster of killers, especially given the game’s history of collaborations with legendary horror franchises.

For years, Behaviour Interactive has openly acknowledged that it wanted Jason in the game. The studio has previously joked that the Friday the 13th killer effectively had a “standing invitation” to join Dead by Daylight whenever the opportunity finally became possible.

The biggest obstacle was never fan demand, though. It was the complicated legal battle surrounding the Friday the 13th franchise itself. For years, the rights to the franchise were tangled in a highly publicized lawsuit between original Friday the 13th screenwriter Victor Miller and director-producer Sean Cunningham. The dispute created an unusually complicated rights situation, with different parties controlling different parts of the franchise.
