Far Cry 2 “Remastered” Gameplay Is A Thing Of Beauty

First released back in 2008 as the second installment in Ubisoft's Far Cry series, Far Cry 2 took players to a fictional African country engulfed in a civil war. At the start of the game, players take on the role of a mercenary who is assigned to kill the Jackal, a weapons dealer inflaming the conflict. Set across a vast open-world, players will take on the main quest, as well as various side missions, with Far Cry 2 even including a multiplayer mode.

Praised for its setting, open-ended gameplay, world design, and visuals, Far Cry 2 was let down by its story, writing, and technical issues that plagued the game at launch. Yet, the game is remembered fondly almost two decades on, and is now celebrated for its ambition and sheer scale.

Since then, Ubisoft's Far Cry franchise has continued to grow, with the series now consisting of six mainline entries with its most recent, Far Cry 6, launching back in 2021. As such, many of the classic entries are yet to receive an official remake or remaster, meaning that fans have had to take matters into their own hands.
