Marvel Rivals Closed Beta Already Has 22 Times Concord's Players

In the past few days, we've seen two Overwatch-like betas released on Steam ahead of their full launch—Marvel Rivals and Concord. But where PlayStation's attempt to break into the world of hero shooters struggled to make a dent, NetEase's turn is thriving after just one day.

Concord peaked at only 2,388 players, which isn't too surprising given how much backlash the reveal trailer drew. The Marvel Rivals playtest on the other hand has a peak of 52,671 players, 22 times higher than Concord's. It's hardly a good sign for PlayStation's newest live-service venture, but the superhero shooter is already making waves.

To add fuel to the fire that is Concord's disastrous opening, it will cost £34.99 (or £49.99 if you grab the advanced access deluxe edition), whereas Marvel Rivals will be free-to-play as is quickly becoming the norm for the genre.

Concord cribs from a dozen other games out there, but fans would clearly rather just play those games instead.
