Half-Life 3 fans seem to live in a state of perpetual disappointment, but that certainly doesn't stop them from holding on to hope for an official announcement. If there's even the slightest whiff of Half-Life news in gaming circles, the rumor mill absolutely explodes with speculation, and it's easily one of the most highly anticipated games of all time.
Last year seemed to be particularly rife with rumors and supposed "leaks" that never quite panned out, from Valve’s mysterious “HLX” codename, Source 2 data-mines, potential Game Awards reveals, Steam Machine tie-ins, cryptic G-Man teases, insider claims, pizza-delivery conspiracies, and even Gabe Newell yacht-tracking. Unsurprisingly, none of these rumors resulted in an actual announcement, trailer, release date, or any concrete confirmation from Valve whatsoever.
