Although the fifth generation of Pokémon is still somewhat controversial among fans, the idea of revisiting Unova through fully-fledged sequels was a fantastic way to reintroduce a region. Seeing it again from completely new eyes was a great way to justify a sequel, as you got to see a ton of extra storylines flourish and close up over the course of two games.
Pokémon Ultra Sun and Moon were also noble attempts to revisit the same region, but instead of serving as true sequels, they altered events from the original narrative. In that sense, official and unofficial games that bring players back to any classic zone are worthy of the community's attention.
