We're about to get our first James Bond game in over a decade, and it sounds like we're in for a treat. 007 First Light reviews are starting to go up ahead of its launch later this week, and all signs point to it being one of the best games of the year so far.
IO Interactive's first crack at a Bond game currently has an 89 on OpenCritic and an 88 on Metacritic, ranking it right up there with some of the best-reviewed games released during the first five months of 2026. Almost as high as Forza Horizon 6, which currently leads the pack, and level with Pokemon Pokopia and Resident Evil Requiem, each of which previously topped the pile at different stages this year.
"007 First Light is a mostly great start to IO Interactive's all-new take on the James Bond universe," writes GameRant, where Dalton Cooper gave the upcoming Bond game a 4/5. Gamingbible's Olly Smith awarded IO's latest offering a 9/10, writing, "007 First Light is an exquisite taste of slick spy action and blockbuster storytelling, and is fully what a Bond game should be, but rarely is."
Not only is First Light one...
