Released back in 2025 and quickly becoming one of the most influential games of all time, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 takes players to Belle Époque France as they become a member of an Expedition who sets out on a journey across a decaying Paris in order to defeat the Paintress, a being who conducts a yearly Gommage, an event which sees those at or above an ever-decreasing age erased from existence.
Developed by Sandfall Interactive, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is quite an underdog tale, as despite presenting a game with an exciting-sounding concept, nobody could quite predict how well it would be received. With award-winning performances from Jennifer English, Ben Starr, and Charlie Cox to name but a few, Clair Obscur will go down in history, which is all the more impressive considering that the game's concept was thought up by an ex-Ubisoft employee during the COVID-19 pandemic.
