Steam, as a platform, has been absolutely dominating the PC market over the years with its consumer-focused experience, making its latest move even more heartbreaking. While fans have been worried about the upcoming Steam Machine cost, a recent price hike for Valve's flagship Steam Deck is raising more than a few red flags, and will set you back hundreds of dollars more than before.
Having been put into place with no advance warning, the price of Valve's Steam Deck is officially being raised from $649 USD to $949 for the 1TB OLED model, and from $549 to $789 for the 512GB OLED model, as noted in Steam's official hardware announcement blog. While the current OLED edition has risen, it is notable that the refurbished versions haven't been hit with the same price increase as the new editions.
