One of the dirty little secrets of the survivors-style games is that while the gameplay does have a certain level of satisfaction to it, the real draw in obliterating the hordes is the visual overload. Vampire Survivors wouldn't be half the game it is today if it wasn't juiced to the gills with eyeball pleasing weapon effects to set loose on a screen packed with more creatures than it could ever reasonably hold. Lots of other games have come and gone in the survivors genre since then, each with its own hook, but the best ones not only make you a god of destruction but also provide the feedback to make you feel it. The demo for Ignitement dropped today, and while it's a game that knows how to sell its effects there's a bit more going on under the hood than blatant pyromania.
