Xbox has officially delayed the Fable reboot to early 2027. Microsoft cited the large number of major games releasing during the 2026 holiday season as a key reason for delaying Fable's release.

The new reboot of Fable will mark the long-awaited return of the beloved Xbox franchise. Microsoft first revealed the revival of the RPG series, originally developed by Lionhead Studios, in 2020, confirming that the game will launch as a full reboot of Fable's story. Fable has already been confirmed to feature the return of some of the most iconic locations from past Fable games, with players able to visit revamped versions of Bowerstone City, Fairfax Castle, and Serenity Farm. However, fans will now be asked to wait a little longer to make their triumphant return to the lands of Albion.

Microsoft confirmed on May 29 that it is shifting the release date for Fable to early 2027. The announcement post revealed that Fable's new release date will be February 2027, moving the game's debut back several months from its previous Fall 2026 release window.
