Adventure Works, founded by former Disney Imagineer Jeffrey Ashbrook, took to the stage during the MIx Summer Game Showcase to show their highly impressive cinematic puzzle platformer Lifted off, as well as announced a Lifted release date.
Inspired by 80s adventure films, most notably Indiana Jones, Lifted has you playing as student Ari Buktu seeking extra credit from Professor Lionel Raventhorpe. These requests are swiftly parlayed into an adventure far grander than anything Ari could have imagined as they end up going on a time-traveling adventure via the professor's Anytime Elevator as Professor Raventhorpe seeks to find the one thing that he believes he needs: a legendary tiara to ask Miss Barton, another teacher, out on a date.
Comedic and high energy, the platformer has you traveling in different areas like 19th century Egypt, ancient Mayan civilizations or the 18th century Caribbean. Much like Doctor Who's TARDIS the Elevator isn't necessarily a precision device, and it often puts you in awkward locations, and you need to solve puzzles, pursue hijinks, and discover your way through different problems in a buddy-comedy blockbuster type affair.
