You Can Still Die In Marvel's Wolverine, Even With A Healing Factor

Everyone always argues over how hard it would be to develop a Superman game — what could possibly challenge his unrivaled Kryptonian strength? What doesn't get talked about often is that this isn't exactly unique to the Man of Steel, as there are plenty of superpowers that would be equally difficult to balance in a video game. Like, say, Wolverine, with his healing factor that can bring him back from the brink of a nuclear blast and even from being hurtled into the sun on an asteroid.

How do you make an action game rewarding if you can't die? That's a problem Insomniac faced when developing Marvel's Wolverine, and the solution was surprisingly simple. "Logan's healing factor has manifested in a lot of different ways over the years, and where we ended up was our Logan can die," game director Mike Daly explained in an interview with Variety. "He dies when his heart stops, and his healing factor can no longer activate, and that's represented by his health bar."

Of course, in the comics, Wolverine has his flesh melted off, gets torn in half by the Hulk, is run over by the Punisher with a steamroller, and has his heart completely...
