There were some big takeaways from Tuesday's State of Play. However, one of the big realizations once the dust had settled was, after so many games confirmed their release dates, just how busy September has become all of a sudden.
There's an elephant in the video game release room for the second half of 2026, and that elephant is GTA 6. It's looking more and more certain that Rockstar's blockbuster isn't going to be delayed again, which is why, as it stands, the weeks surrounding that November 19 release date are positively barren when it comes to rival video games. September, however, is now packed to the rafters.
It seems the State of Play was the point of no return for a lot of studios, as a cavalcade of games were confirmed to be launching in September. Control Resonant was perhaps the biggest of the bunch, and one Remedy fans feared might be pushed into 2027. That might still happen, but for now, the sequel is one of many games that will be here in September.
