Cory Barlog Confirms When Exactly On The God Of War Timeline Laufey Takes Place

The rumors claiming we're getting a new God of War game with Faye as the protagonist were true. God of War Laufey's reveal closed Wednesday's State of Play, and if you've been wondering where exactly on the series' timeline the game takes place, Cory Barlog is already on hand to clear things up.

The assumption was that Faye's game would be a prequel since - spoiler alert - she's dead during the events of God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarok. However, as confirmed during its reveal, Laufey takes place after Faye has died, following her journey as she tries to figure out what exactly is going on in her afterlife.

Game director Ariel Lawrence revealed to IGN that the idea of a Faye-led prequel was discussed, but the team at Santa Monica ultimately decided that telling a story that takes place after her death would be more interesting.
