Santa Monica Addresses Kratos's Future Following God Of War Laufey Reveal

Santa Monica revealed God of War Laufey to close Tuesday's State of Play, confirming that Faye will be the lead in the series' next big game. This isn't it for Kratos, though, as the God of War studio has soothed fears that we might not see the protagonist return after Ragnarok.

God of War fans effectively got a double confirmation from Santa Monica that Faye taking the reigns for Laufey doesn't mean we've seen the last of Kratos in a leading role. First in a video that accompanied Laufey's reveal as Cory Barlog and Ariel Lawrence hinting at more Kratos games, and then on X in response to those comments with a more definitive answer detailing what the original God of War's future might look like.

"Kratos is the God of War – we have many more stories to tell with him," Santa Monica posted in reply to the comments hinting at more Kratos games. "For now, we’re excited to take fans on a journey into the afterlife of the gods with Faye and hope you’ll come along for the ride!"

A Faye-led game combined with the way Santa Monica left things with Kratos after Ragnarok's Valhalla expansion certainly made it...
