Monster Hunter Wilds is finally getting its big expansion in 2027, as Capcom announced the Ascendance DLC at Summer Games Fest 2026, which adds a massive amount of content to the game, as players get to explore a huge new region that hides in the clouds above the world.
The Monster Hunter series has been adding significant content in post-launch DLCs since Monster Hunter World, which usually includes a new region to explore, more monsters, and the brutally difficult G-Rank hunts, which require players to be at their best to survive them. Some diehard players will even wait for the DLC, as they consider its harder content to be the "true" Monster Hunter experience.
Fans have been expecting Monster Hunter Wilds to receive a DLC update at some point, similar to Iceborne for Monster Hunter World or Sunbreak for Monster Hunter Rise. The new expansion, announced at Summer Game Fest 2026, is called Ascendance, and as the name suggests, it will involve hunters needing to rise into the sky, as players explore sky islands, much like the ones in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
