Final Fantasy 7 Revelation director Naoki Hamaguchi has confirmed that it will be as big as, if not bigger than, Rebirth while also making some appreciated changes to the infamous minigames.
When Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth launched two years ago, it was generally considered to be an excellent sequel to Remake that built upon its already strong foundations in nearly every way. Easily the most notable evolution was the introduction of a massive open world for Cloud and the party to get lost in, which is something that fans found sorely lacking in the more linear Remake.
As requested as the open-world was, though, its density, similar activities, and overwhelming number of minigames did end up being a sore point for a lot of players that made Rebirth a tad divisive. It was pretty likely that the third and final game in the trilogy would carry this on, but it's now been outright confirmed that Revelation is a little bigger than Rebirth, even if it is addressing the bloat.
