Resident Evil Fans Think Veronica Is Taking RE5's Place As "RE:V"

Capcom has trained Resident Evil fans for decades on enigmatic puzzles and labyrinthian mansions built like escape rooms, so it's no wonder that whenever a new game is announced, those same fans start poring over the footage like they're flicking through old videotapes trying to escape one of Lucas' death traps. Veronica is no exception.

During the surprise opening reveal at Summer Game Fest, the trailer zoomed in on the letters "RE V," which might not seem all that important at first — it is Resident Evil Veronica abbreviated, after all — but considering how Biohazard, Village, and Requiem hid corresponding Roman numerals in the titles (VII for 7, VIII for 8, IX for 9), fans have a theory: Veronica is taking RE5's place.
