Persona 6 Has Finally Been Revealed, More Than 9 Years After Persona 5 Launched

Persona 6 has finally been announced during today's Xbox Games Showcase, a measly nine years, eight months, and 23 days after Persona 5 was released in Japan. But who's counting? The reveal comes after the Persona 6 series director told fans to "stay tuned for more updates" in June last year, when the company also announced Persona 4: Golden Revival.

The Persona 6 trailer didn't give us much, and while the series is always dark, it looks to be delving into the horror genre more than previous games.

More time has passed between Persona 5 and the reveal of Persona 6 than any other mainline games in the franchise. There were three years between Persona and Persona 2, seven years between Persona 2 and Persona 3, only two between 3 and 4, and then eight between Persona 4 and Persona 5. The long wait for Persona 6 is now finally coming to an end.

The trailer begins with a pan over dozens of gravestones, accompanied by sinister music and sharp, scratchy cuts. It then arrives at a giant gravestone as lightning illuminates what will be either the game's villain or its new protagonist. It has extremely creepy undertones.
