Alix Wilton-Regan is our new Lara Croft, playing the heroine in Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and Tomb Raider: Catalyst. As we've seen in the trailers, this is a very different version of the character than we got in the most recent games, going back to the snark and the confidence of her 1990s self.
Speaking with IGN, Wilton-Regan explains how she crafted this version of Lara. When asked to describe her in a word, she says Lara is "unapologetic", and that Lara's confidence is being felt by early players, no matter who they are.
Wilton-Regan explains why she picked this word to describe Lara, and what it means for her.
"It was something me and my girls were talking about around the new year, and a couple of people came up with 'unapologetic'," she says. "And then I had this interview, and I got asked by the guys at Amazon, what is the word for Lara? On the spot, I just went, 'unapologetic'.
"She's so completely confident in herself, her abilities, her brain, her body, her being. She just doesn't question herself. And I think, particularly as women, we spend a lot of time questioning...
