At Summer Game Fest, the next game from Shift Up was unveiled. Stellar Blade: Night Rain follows on from the studio's success with Stellar Blade in 2024, and as we saw in the trailer, it introduces the new player character, Evie.
What immediately stood out to viewers is that Evie has a much more youthful appearance than Eve in the last game. Granted, Eve's design wasn't without controversy itself, but many now take issue with Evie - who looks much younger than Eve - being just as sexualised as her predecessor.
Speaking with IGN, Shift Up boss Hyung-tae Kim was asked about those who believe Evie looks too young.
"If you actually play the game, you will not think that," he says. “I definitely like how Eve looked in the previous Stellar Blade. But this time, Evie, not just her physical looks, but her personality, the way she talks, the way she engages in battles, all that will combine together, and you'll see that she’s a very lovable character."
He continues, making it clear that he sees no issue with her more youthful characteristics. "Yes. She is younger," he says. "She's smaller in size. She's shorter than Eve, but...
