Retailers Continue To Bypass Switch 2's $10 Price Increase For Physical Games

Nintendo confirmed earlier this year that, moving forward on Switch 2, there will be a price disparity between its digital and physical first-party releases. However, third-party retailers either didn't get the memo or are refusing to comply, as Amazon and Walmart continue to price-match Nintendo's digital prices for its upcoming pre-orders.

Nintendo has now filled out a lot of its calendar for the rest of 2026 thanks to Tuesday's Direct. We already knew Star Fox would be flying onto Switch 2 before the end of June, and Splatoon Raiders in July. We also now have release dates for other Switch 2 exclusives, including Orbitals and Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, both of which will be here in September.

An incredibly overcrowded September, although it's hard to imagine Nintendo caving and moving either of those games to later in the year or early 2027.

You can pre-order any of those games right now through Nintendo, and all four are getting physical releases alongside their digital versions. However, you will be charged $10 more for a physical copy. That's unless you pre-order the games through Amazon or Walmart instead.
