An alleged JB Hi-Fi employee has suggested that the recent listings that claim Kingdom Hearts 4 is coming in 2027 were likely made by a trainee who "doesn't get the significance".
It's been a long time since Kingdom Hearts fans have had anything to get excited about beyond the possibility that Square Enix might remember the series exists, but that all changed at this week's Nintendo Direct. Not only did we get the long-awaited Switch 2 port of the whole series, but we also got a brand-new trailer for Kingdom Hearts 4.
The new trailer showed off so much of KH4 that it suddenly didn't seem too far-fetched to believe it might be with us sooner than we all expected. That hopium only grew when a listing for the Kingdom Hearts 1-3 Collection at JB Hi-Fi and EB Games suggested that Kingdom Hearts 4 is coming in 2027. Surprise surprise, that very likely isn't the case.
