Rayman creator Michel Ancel, who left Ubisoft in 2020 following allegations of mismanagement and internal complaints, was a consultant on Rayman Legends Retold but not part of the "creative process".
The last decade and a bit has been pretty rough for Rayman fans, with nothing really being done with the series after the critically acclaimed Rayman Legends. That finally turned around back in 2024 when Ubisoft confirmed that it was exploring what to do with the character and series, which we now know is a remaster of his first game and a remake of his latest.
Alongside confirming that it was bringing back Rayman, Ubisoft also noted that series creator Michel Ancel would be involved with whatever happened, which was noteworthy considering he left the company in 2020 after being accused of toxic behaviour and mismanagement on Beyond Good & Evil 2, which he called "fake news".
