Bethesda, ID Software, And BioWare Could Be Part Of Xbox’s “Massive Bloodbath”

Xbox is in a whole lot of trouble. After new CEO Asha Sharma's initial nostalgia-fueled crusade, it became clear all wasn't right at Microsoft's gaming division. She said last week that Xbox "isn't healthy", and not long after, reports of mass layoffs began to surface.

The severity of those layoffs began to come to light yesterday, with South of Midnight developer, Compulsion Games, reportedly on the chopping block, and other studios, including Double Fine and Ninja Theory, negotiating with Microsoft for their release. Those three were the main studios cited as being in trouble, but it may not stop there.

A new report has claimed that, alongside Compulsion, Double Fine, and Ninja Theory, more of Xbox's top studios are bracing for the worst, with the early reports "just the beginning" of what's to come.

"What’s happening with Microsoft is just the beginning of a massive bloodbath for studios owned by publishers. Don’t Nod, Quantic Dream, but also a lot of layoffs expected in many very well-known studios. It’s going to be a catastrophe," said French journalist Sylvain Trinel, who currently works for BFMTV, on social media.
