The debate around AI in video games is inescapable at the moment. Just yesterday, Fortnite developer Epic Games released AI-generated artwork riddled with errors, and last week, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis came under fire for its use of AI art. It's almost a weekly occurrence where fans express their distaste for the technology, but it mostly falls on deaf ears.

Some developers, like ZA/UM are standing their ground, but when the likes of Rockstar's parent company, Take-Two Interactive, sing its praises and openly use it, its rise is inevitable.

Now, in a new interview, Nier: Automata creator and video game legend Yoko Taro has been reflecting on the rise of AI, and he certainly doesn't seem too keen on the way things are going.

Yoko Taro is a visionary. His works on series such as Drakengard and NieR have earned him acclaim from fellow developers and fans alike. It seems like he also has legendary views on artificial intelligence.
