Persona Director Aims To Deliver "Something Like A Poison" To Players

For Persona fans, much like myself, we're eating good. Persona 4 Revival now has a release date, and after almost ten years, Persona 6 has been revealed.

But while there's still a wait for the two games, we've been treated to insight into how the mind of long-time Persona director and series producer, Kazuhisha Wada, works, with him saying he aims to create "Poison" when he makes games.

Persona games are ominous. The series explores trauma, mortality, and societal oppression, and Persona 6 looks even darker. It should come as no surprise, then, given the series' themes, that director Wada has an unusual way of thinking.

Speaking to Famitsu as part of the Japanese magazine's 40th anniversary celebrations, Wada was asked, "What do you want to challenge yourself with in the future, and what message do you have for game creators?" He said he wants to create poison.

"Fundamentally, as a creator, I'm not very interested in things that are neither good nor bad," he tells the publication. "That's why, while facing various risks and constraints, we've tried to deliver something like a poison that leaves a strong impression.
