CD Projekt Red Hopes The Witcher 4 Will Complete Its "Redemption Arc" After Cyberpunk 2077

To say Cyberpunk 2077 had a 'rocky launch' would be an understatement. Game-breaking bugs and frequent crashes were so pervasive that Sony saw an unprecedented influx of refund requests, leading to a complete removal of the game from the PlayStation Store. CDPR, meanwhile, shelved its immediate DLC plans to focus on stability, and what ensued was a three-year effort culminating in Update 2.0 and Phantom Liberty to reach the quality players had expected.

In the end, Cyberpunk 2077 joined Star Wars: Battlefront 2 and No Man's Sky in the video game redemption hall of fame, but co-CEO Michał Nowakowski doesn't think the studio has completed a "full redemption arc" yet,m and that there's still work to be done. It's his hope that The Witcher 4 will finally make up for the "heartbreaking" launch, and restore CDPR's reputation after nearly a decade.
