The hype for Halo: Campaign Evolved felt pretty high this time last week. That hype now feels like it has fallen through a trapdoor, not just because of the PS Plus debacle, but because fans of the series don't like how the Halo looks in the remake.
A six-hour video of Campaign Evolved's Halo menu, complete with haunting and instantly recognizable Halo music, was added to the series' YouTube channel. Not only does it give you some non-stop nostalgic video game ambience to work or fall asleep to, but it also gives us our best look yet at the remake's Halo.
Bad news on that, I'm afraid. People don't like it, and I can see why. By the very nature of Campaign Evolved being a remake, everything in the game is going to be more detailed. That includes the Halo on which most of the game takes place. The problem with the remade Halo that fans have now identified is that all that extra detail has washed away a lot of its scale and aura.
