Rockstar confirmed GTA 6's pricing this week: $80 for Standard, $100 for Ultimate. Fine. Reasonable, even, next to the $100+ rumours that had been floating around for months. What isn't fine is what that extra $20 actually locks.

Five in-game storefronts – a hair salon, a clothing store, a tattoo parlour, and two vehicle mod shops – are inaccessible unless you own the Ultimate Edition, and seemingly not just the items inside them. Fans worry that this is about the physical locations in the world. If you bought Standard, you cannot walk into them. Full stop.

Pre-orders open at midnight local time on June 25th, alongside everything else Rockstar revealed this week. Anyone who pre-orders, regardless of edition, automatically gets the Vintage Vice City Pack – a '55 Vapid Stanier sedan, a garage near Ocean Beach, and a set of period-appropriate outfits and hairstyles for Jason and Lucia, all leaning into a Tommy Vercetti-era aesthetic.

Pre-loading begins November 12th, a week ahead of the November 19th release date. Worth flagging too: there is no PC version at launch. This is a PS5 and Xbox Series X/S release first, with PC players left waiting for a date...
