Deltarune Chapter 5 is out now, and fans are flocking back to the beloved RPG. At the time of writing, there are 286,958 people playing Deltarune through Steam alone, which smashes the game's previous record out of the park.

Prior to this, Deltarune had a concurrent player high of 133,930 when it first launched on Steam. Now, the game has easily doubled this, as everyone boots it back up again to try out the new content.

This wave of success has seen Deltarune become one of the most played games on Steam. Right now, Deltrarune is number five on the Steam charts, sitting above mainstays like Apex Legends, Path of Exile 2, and GTA 5, as well as the recent indie hit Meccha Chameleon.

This update comes a year after we got Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4 as a packaged deal. This marked the end of Deltarune being free to play, unlike the first two chapters, which could be picked up without spending a penny. If you got Deltarune for Chapters 3 and 4, then Chapter 5 would have been added as a free update, likely contributing to this huge return of players we're seeing now.
