Phasmophobia's Biggest Update Yet Has Been Delayed, With 1.0 Now Targeting 2027

Phasmophobia's long-awaited 1.0 update has been delayed, with developer Kinetic Games now targeting a release window in the second half of 2027 instead of its previously announced 2026 launch.

The news was confirmed during a media presentation I attended, where marketing and partnerships director Asim Tanvir revealed the studio is pushing the release back to ensure the update launches at the quality level the team wants. The delay will also impact the game's Nintendo Switch 2 version, which is planned to release alongside 1.0.

"We're looking at shifting that to the second half of 2027," Tanvir said. "This is basically to ensure the highest quality launch when we do launch 1.0."

Kinetic Games CEO and game director Daniel Knight said the delay will give the team more time to refine the update based on community feedback, adding that the studio wants to shape Phasmophobia into "the refined horror experience our players expect." Knight also thanked the community for helping the studio grow to a team of more than 50 people and for giving the team the opportunity to continue improving the game.
