It has been heavily reported for weeks that the Xbox axe is looming over almost every studio under its banner and that layoffs are imminent, likely starting in July. Turns out they may have begun a little early, and South of Midnight studio Compulsion Games is the first to be affected.
There has been no official word from either Xbox or Compulsion, however, as spotted by Rebs Gaming, several developers at Compulsion have revealed on LinkedIn that they have been let go and they are now looking for work. The cuts appears to be across the board at Compulsion as various developers from different departments have shared that they are no longer with the studio.
It's unclear if the layoffs are being rolled out gradually or if those affected are simply waiting a little while to share the bad news, as some who have confirmed they've been let go posted the unfortunate news two days ago. Others have only confirmed that they are no longer with Compulsion within the last few hours.
