After Less Than A Year In the Job, Bungie's Studio Head Is Reportedly Stepping Down

Bungie's studio head, Justin Truman, is reportedly stepping down. This brings his tenure as Bungie's head to an end after less than a year in the role, having taken over from Pete Parsons in August of last year.

Truman's resignation comes as Bungie confirms that it is rolling out layoffs. Sony has confirmed this too, saying that "most" Destiny developers are being laid off, alongside "some" Marathon devs.

Both Jason Schreier from Bloomberg and Paul Tassi from Forbes are reporting the news of Truman's departure. Truman is yet to make a statement himself, but statements from Sony and Bungie have made it clear that these job cuts will be devastating.

In its own statement, Bungie suggested that these layoffs were the result of Destiny 2 "failing to meet expectations" in recent years, and the fact that the studio doesn't have another project to put devs on. That is because Destiny 2's ongoing development has come to an end, with no new expansions releasing for the game. Bungie's next title is currently in the incubation stage, so it's nowhere near ready for full-blown development.
