Toby Fox can finally consider himself a Big Shot, as Deltarune Chapter 5 has broken the series' player count record within the space of a single day.
Deltarune has had a strange release schedule. The first chapter was released back in 2018 as a free download, with Toby Fox intending to charge money for later releases. Those plans were temporarily shelved, as Chapter 2 was also given away for free, due to it launching during lockdown. It wasn't until 2025 that Toby Fox actually started charging money for Deltarune, with Chapters 3 & 4 as part of the same bundle, with the future releases being free downloads to those who purchased it.
Chapter 5 launched on June 24, 2026, and its early success proves that the legend of Deltarune is only growing, as the official Steam figures state that the game has shattered its player count record, hitting 291,816 within a day.
