The White House Posts AI Destiny Meme Hours After Bungie's Mass Layoffs

We're living in an horrible age where The White House's official Twitter account regularly posts video game-related content. The latest example of that is an AI-generated image that's supposed to make it look like Donald Trump is in Destiny 2, and the reactions to it have led to the rep responsible trying, and failing, to prove to the Destiny community that they're one of them.

This saga began on Thursday afternoon when The White House shared an AI image of Donald Trump surrounded by Destiny UI, paired with the caption, "Eyes up, Guardians". The timing here is key, as the image was shared as news that mass layoffs were underway at Bungie, with hundreds of developers who worked on Destiny 2 losing their jobs.

Paul Tassi, who is something of an expert when it comes to reporting on all things Bungie, tweeted, "The Trump thing is because whatever zoomer runs the White House account just sees what’s trending at any given time and makes some AI bullsh*t out of it."
