Subnautica Devs Are Sneaking Sequel Screenshots Into Time Capsules

We know that a new Subnautica game is coming, that much is certain. First announced via a financial report for publisher Krafton, a sequel is planned to launch in early access at some point in the first half of 2025, with more news still to be shared this year. Over seven months on from that initial announcement, we've only had a couple of screenshots to get excited about, but it turns out even more screenshots have been under our nose the entire time.

A set of screenshots have been causing a stir in the Subnautica community recently, depicting content that can't be found in the base game. These screenshots are being found in Time Capsules, little devices that players can leave behind with messages and images for other players to discover. Most of the time, they're left by players, but you'll occasionally find a Time Capsule with a message and image from developer Unknown Worlds.
