As the ninth main installment in the beloved Square Enix franchise, Final Fantasy IX had a lot riding on its shoulders when it launched back in 2000. Arriving on the PlayStation, Final Fantasy IX took players to a world of warring nations as we took on the role of Zidane Tribal, a thief who is tasked with kidnapping the princess Garnet Til Alexandrios XVII by a neighboring nation. However, the situation soon turns around when Zidane, Garnet and a whole host of eccentric characters join together to take down Queen Brahne, the reason behind the war and Garnet's mother.
Now hailed as one of the greatest video games of all time, Final Fantasy IX received an official remaster back in 2016, welcoming graphical enhancements and added gameplay. Not only that, but with an animated television show inspired by the world currently in development at Cyber Group Studios, it is an exciting time for fans of the beloved Final Fantasy title.
However, celebrations do not end there, as Square Enix has announced yet another upcoming release for Final Fantasy IX, and this time, it will see you spend some time away from the screen and hunched over a table.
