Io Interactive Laying Off Staff After Partner Withdraws from Project Fantasy | TechRaptor

Riding high off the success of the outstanding 007 First Light, everything seemed to be going well for IOI Interactive until a rather ominous announcement was shared on social media today.

In their announcement, they thank everyone for their response to First Light and state they have been humbled by the way people have accepted their take on a young James Bond. Quickly after that comes the bad news - an external partner who had been funding their other project has withdrawn from funding it. That project, known as Project Fantasy, is Io Interactive's effort to build a new IP that they own, along with Hitman.

They are quick to state that they are 100% committed to Project Fantasy, and that it will see the light of the day, but that the situation creates a "new reality", and it has short-term consequences, which are occurring right now. This includes, as they mention staffing decisions, meaning we can expect to see some developers laid off due to the funding arrangement ending.
