OD, Hideo Kojima's Upcoming Xbox Game, Is Reportedly Safe As Layoffs Loom

It's officially July. That means today marks the start of a new financial quarter, one expected to begin with widespread layoffs and potentially even studio closures throughout the Xbox ecosystem. However, OD, the Xbox-published game from Hideo Kojima, is immune from what's to come.

That's according to IGN, which, in the wake of Bloomberg's latest report detailing what exactly Xbox might have planned in the coming days, indicated that a Microsoft source close to the situation believes whatever's about to happen, OD, and the team working on it, will come out the other side unscathed.

It's been claimed on multiple occasions that while there are studios most definitely more at risk of being affected by Xbox cuts - some developers have already left South of Midnight studio, Compulsion Games - no one is 100 percent safe. At the very least, bigger studios that you'd assume Xbox wouldn't even dream of closing might see swaths of their teams laid off to cut costs.
