Cyberpunk 2077 Has Shot Up The Steam Charts Thanks To Edgerunners 2 Trailer

Earlier this week, fans were treated to their first look at Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. The new trailer introduced four new characters, hiding a fifth. The show is confirmed for a 10-episode run and will be directed by Kai Ikarashi (Mob Psycho 100, Evangelion: 3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon a Time, Little Witch Academia: The Enchanted Parade).

The excitement around the trailer has clearly left fans itching to return to Night City, as, in the last few days, it has shot up the Steam charts and seen an influx of players.

Back in September 2022, when the first season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners came out, Cyberpunk 2077's player count more than tripled. It showed the intense synergy between the show and the game, and it's happening all over again.

Over the last few days, Cyberpunk 2077 hit a peak of 87,129 players on Steam, according to SteamDB. This is the highest it has been since October 2024, when 274,526 players were online, following the release of the game's 2.0 update. This represents a 63 percent increase in peak players over last month, and a 25 percent increase in its average players. It's flown up the sales chart, too.
