Meccha Chameon Sales Estimates Put It Ahead Of Every Other Video Game This Year

Meccha Chameleon has been a next-level hit with its developers confirming it sold a staggering ten million copies in its first three weeks. It's even better than that for the viral indie hit, though, as estimates suggest it's the best-selling game of 2026.

Rhys Elliot of Alinea Analytics shared sales data for the first half of the year across Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox, and it estimates that, with 12.6 million copies sold between its release and June 30, Meccha Chameleon is the most popular game of the year so far. By some distance, too, as the runner-up is EA Sports FC 26 with 9.1 million copies sold.

The next best-selling game that actually released this year is even further down the list. That honor goes to Resident Evil Requiem, with 7.5 million sold. Forza Horizon 6 is snapping at Leon's heels with an estimated 7.4 million copies, level with Arc Raiders, which clearly continues to sell well, even though its player count is on an, albeit very gradual, decline. Slay the Spire 2, another of 2026's biggest indie hits, rounds out the top six with an estimated seven million copies sold so far.
