Microsoft Has Deleted A Fan's Account Who Spent Thousands On Digital Video Games

It's a rather scary time to be a gamer right now, especially if you're someone who has a large physical library. It's looking increasingly likely that the next generation of consoles will be all digital, which makes the topic of game ownership all that more prevalent.

We've been told several times that digital purchases are nothing more than licenses, and companies like PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo can all take them away should they decide to do so. We need more assurances that we get to keep our digital purchases, but we're getting nothing but the opposite, as a new story about an unfortunate Xbox fan has once again proven why an all digital future is scary.

Earlier today, a Twitter user called JoshuaKhane shared an email they received from Microsoft after they requested help after their account had been hacked and login details changed. In the email, Microsoft states that they confirmed unauthorized access has occurred, but that it wouldn't be reinstating the account back to Joshua and would be permanently suspending the account instead.

Not only that, but Microsoft also completely deleted all the files in Joshua OneDrive as well, erasing years of data and his son's baby pictures....
