When a new Call of Duty game launches, every player’s first move is to open the settings menu and turn off unwanted options, so you’re ready to play your preferred way. That could be disabling controller vibration, motion blur, or even depth of field. However, Infinity Ward wants players to stop turning off depth of field going into Modern Warfare 4.
The way in which Infinity Ward is going to try to convince you to keep depth of field enabled is by improving the setting from the iterations that have appeared in previous Call of Duty titles. The goal of those changes is to ensure there’s better visibility while depth of field is enabled, so you can take full advantage of the visuals on offer to secure that all-important kill.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Debuts Improved Depth of Field
In the fifth episode of From The Ward, Infinity Ward identifies that players are turning depth of field off in-game, although it’s supposed to emulate the realism approach Modern Warfare 4 is attempting to capture. Up until now, depth of field hinders your vision of an opponent when you’re aiming down sight.
