League of Legends Classic—pitched as a return to how League was played over 10 years ago—has been on the game's Public Beta Environment (PBE) for a few days, and the feedback hasn't been very positive.
A common complaint is that the mode isn't nostalgic enough, because, rather than singling out a single period in time and reverting the game to that state, Riot has instead created a 'best of' amalgamation of mechanics and champion kits from League's first five seasons. That's not inherently bad, though I (and others) would argue Season 5 feels too 'new' to be included in a Classic mode — that's the season where modern League began to take shape.
The mishmash of time periods has created a situation where some champions feel truly classic, while others, like Ahri, aren't dramatically different from how they play today. There is also some criticism about which version of certain champions are present in League Classic, e.g. Riot added Season 1 Katarina, but Season 3 Katarina feels like her 'true' classic version to some.
