Game Of Thrones: War For Westeros Delayed Until 2027, But It Looks Promising

An RTS or 'map painter' set in the world of A Song of Ice and Fire (ASOIAF) seems like a no-brainer—we've seen how popular the Westerosi mod for Crusader Kings 3 is—and PlaySide is trying to give the people what they want.

Game of Thrones: War for Westeros was announced in 2025 with a dramatic CGI cinematic that pitted Kit Harington's Jon Snow against the Night King. I wouldn't expect those visuals in the final game, but I'd be happy with any functional adaptation of Westeros at this point.

In a recent development blog post, PlaySide revealed some of the progress that has been made on War for Westeros over the last year, with a specific focus on the leaders of the game's various factions and 'trump card' units.

Given that Jon Snow leads House Stark and the announcement cinematic, you would assume War for Westeros is a pseudo-adaptation of the final season of HBO's A Game of Thrones.
