Marathon and Destiny developer Bungie has been in a bit of a state recently, having sunset Destiny 2 despite the protestations of the game's fanbase, and putting all of its eggs in the Marathon basket. Unfortunately, that basket isn't the most stable you've ever seen, and Marathon has been struggling to retain an audience ever since launch.
Now, it seems like there are even more issues for the game to go through, as game director Jospeh Ziegler has announced that he will be leaving Bungie effective immediately, and is being replaced by assistant game director Del Chafe III.
Ziegler announced his departure from Bungie via his personal Twitter account, thanking fans of the game for their support and sending love to those that are still working at Bungie on the game itself.
Players have grown to fear sudden live-service shutdowns, but Bungie promises Marathon isn't going anywhere.
As for why Ziegler is leaving, it doesn't appear to be a layoff or a firing, but that he may have some other work lined up already. In his announcement, Ziegler explains that he's "heading to something new, somewhere else", which sounds like he has another job lined up elsewhere. He says...
