Breaking silence after a discovery regarding a Definitive Edition for Ghost Recon: Wildlands, Ubisoft promises more information ahead of the franchise's 25th anniversary in August. The Definitive Edition seemingly leaked out a little earlier than Ubisoft wanted as images taken from online stores confirmed the new version of Ghost Recon Wildlands, prompting Ubisoft to address the discovery.
Fans have been eagerly anticipating an announcement for Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon franchise, a series that has not only continued to be popular, but has continued to go through a major shift over the franchise's past 25 years. Originally positioned as a military tactical shooter featuring a special forces unit going on highly classified missions, the Ghost Recon franchise has continued to evolve from the original few games through 2006's Advanced Warfighter, into the near future with Future Soldier in 2012, and then the biggest series jump into the open world with the popular Wildlands release back in 2017. Despite rumors of the next Ghost Recon being in development hell, fans are hoping Ubisoft has more to say on where things are going.
